Description

This antique Bokhara silk embroidery is captivating due to its finely balanced palette and elegant field design a diamond lattice composed of budding green twigs and short twigs crowned by red, halved blossoms. In the border, various types of flower are connected by elongated lancet leaves and parallel panicles, creating a sweeping vine design. The delicate style of the drawing and the degree of abstraction seen in the floral ornaments reveal an influence of Indian design principles. Backed with fabric, only minimal signs of age, good condition.
