Bokhara Suzani
A small-format silk embroidery in the nim format with a diamond lattice of green leaves and red circular blossoms drawn in different designs. The same motifs – blossoms with a closed outline and blossoms with an open outline of mushroom-shaped serrations – have been used to decorate the border, where they are linked by a lively vine of large lancet leaves. In formal language, embroidery technique and palette, this is a typical piece from the surroundings of the oasis town of Bokhara. – Several small holes and tears, darned areas and stains.
